UMP is strategically located near the East Coast Highway, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, automotive zone as well as biotechnology in the state of Pahang. It is situated in the distinct of Gambang, 30km from Kuantan, the capital city of Pahang, an estimated of 350km away from KLIA and consequently 10km from the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport Kuantan.

Industrial Partnership & Community Relation Department or JJIM (previously known as Industrial Partnership & Community Relation Division) was established on 15 February 2012. On 1st August 2015, university has upgrading the department as well as the roles are strengthened to help the University become a reference centre that excels in contributing to human and discovery of knowledge through contact with industry and society.
As of now, JJIM divided into two (2) main divisions namely Career Placement & Development Centre (CPDC) and the Division of Academia-Industry-Community (AIC). The CPDC was set up with the purpose of assisting students to explore their career, prepare them for their job search and connect them to employment opportunities. Whereas, the role of AIC is to strengthen the current and future partnership between industry and university as well as community in the area of university-industry partnership and university-community relation platforms.

Among the types of University-Industry collaborations that can be formed are the following:
Industry involvement in the Mission of a University is to ensure effective and high impact relations between universities and industry through the construction of a strategic relationship. It can also be beneficial to the industry, universities can offer added value in the development of the industry, in particular SMEs, in line with NKEA.

Does every collaboration between Industry-UMP and Community-UMP require a Memorandum of Understanding / Agreement?
A Document of Understanding is required for special projects which are comprehensive, i.e. have certain reference terms to achieve certain targeted mission and activity for a certain duration, which involves procedures, regulations and finance as well as require specific monitoring between UMP and the relevant party. Simple one-off activities (as known as Quick-Win Projects) such as school adoption programme, field trips and industrial talks do not require any Document of Understanding. Submission of a proposal paper is sufficient.
The said document takes approximately three months to be processed and approved.
UMP has implemented the concept of Community University which aims to expand the role of universities in dissemination of knowledge and information to assist in industrial development and improve people's standard of living.
Although there are various definitions and interpretation of community engagement, but in UMP, it means active and meaningful involvement within and outside of the university across local, national and international levels with the aim of exchanging knowledge and enabling learning for the benefit of the society.

GE Avengers who are UMP’s student, appointed by TalentCorp Malaysia to do some activities such as Employment Fair, Internship Market Day, Industry Engagements, Networking Sessions, Career Talks & Sharing Sessions to help UMP’s student secure a career of choice.
The UMP’s students should join and participate our activities because it can help them to get career opportunities.
